Every so often, when I don't follow the diet, I wake up in the early in the morning (usually 6 or so) and can't get back to sleep because of extreme tightness and discomfort (I stop short of calling it pain) throughout my back. This morning was one of these mornings. Through experience, I've found that the only thing that alleviates it and I am capable of accomplishing at that time, is to sit up. So, ususally I get up, all bleary eyed, and go sit on the couch and watch TV or surf or read or whatever. Then, within an hour or so, the discomfort has passed and I can, if I feel so inclined, go back to bed. But, usually I just stay up because the kids are up and there is no going back once that happens.
